Once evolved, Hypermutation will permanently occupy the Spur trait slot until death of the player, and disallowing reselection of Celerity and Adrenaline even when evolving to a different lifeform. However, Hypermutation provides three benefits based on the evolution system:
Hypermutation allows the player to reuse accumulated and spent Personal Resources to evolve to different lifeforms. Normally, any Personal Resources spent will be permanently lost; with Hypermutation, Personal Resources will be discounted or refunded depending on the cost of the player's current lifeform and the new lifeform (see Evolving to Higher Lifeforms and Evolving to Lower Lifeforms below for examples).
Hypermutation allows the player to freely reselect Shell (Carapace and Regeneration) and Veil (Silence, Camouflage, and Feign Death) traits at any time, in exchange for occupying the Spur trait slot in the Evolve Menu. Normally, traits will remain selected and locked in place until the player dies or evolves to a different lifeform; traits reselection grants great flexibility in upgrade customization at a moment's notice.
Hypermutation allows the player rapidly evolve to previously used lifeforms. A player can effectively change his role in combat as different lifeforms once enough Personal Resources have accumulated.
